Abstract: BACKGROUND-Family planning is one of the government program that has an important role in efforts to improve the quality of the population. Number of spouses of fertile age who do not use contraception in the village of Durin Simberang Pancur Batu Subdistrict of Deli Serdang in 2014 amounted to (37.8%). Low maternal knowledge often causes problems in choosing a contraceptive. OBJECTIVE - The aim of this study to determine the factors associated with mother knowledge about contraceptives in the village of Durin Simberang Pancur Batu Subdistrict of Deli Serdang. METHODS- Cross sectional study design with a quantitative approach. A sample of 53 people is a pair of Eligible located in the village of Durin Simberang Pancur Batu Subdistrict of Deli Serdang. Data were collected using a questionnaire enclosed. Data analysis using Chi Square test. RESULT-The majority of spouses of fertile age have knowledge of contraception is being challenged by (64.1%), age> 35 years (60.4%), low education (52.9%), the work of farmers (32.1%) and parity multiparas of ( 73.6%). Bivariable analysis shows there is a significant relationship between education and work with the mother's knowledge about contraception. Age and parity does not have a meaningful relationship with the mother's knowledge about contraception CONCLUSION-In conclusion, Education and employment variables have a meaningful relationship with the mother's knowledge about contraception.
